Baterinho is a percussion instrument invented and developed by Jeroen Dekker. It is produced entirely in the Netherlands. It provides not only a kick and snare sound but a tomtom and tambourine/hihat sound as well. It is played using hands and feet and can be played by both left and right handed people. But it is also possible to use sticks, rods or brushes. The kick ‘heads’ on both sides of Baterinho can be used to produce conga or surdo sounds. It is the ideal instrument for acoustic settings where a complete drumset would produce too much noise or take too much space.

The ‘heads’ on Baterinho are made of recycled polycarbonate. The body is made of durable birch plywood and comes standard in satin black or satin white but it can also be finished satin tranparant lacquer or any RAL color. More materials will be available soon. The bass port in the front panel helps to produce a deep kick sound. To prevent the Baterinho from moving during playing, it is placed on four sturdy rubber feet. To produce a kick sound, one should use the easy to learn ‘pivot’ technique. There is a kick head on both sides of Baterinho so both feet can be used. The front ‘head’ has a texture which enables the use of brushes. There are four sets of jingles mounted behind the front ‘head’. These can be played the way a pandeiro is played or with just the fingertips. The front ‘head’ is very sensitive, making it possible to play differtent volumes, from ghostnotes to loud flams.

Please note:
Baterinho is made in the Netherlands. We are a small company, we maintain high standards when it comes to materials and finishes, and try to be as flexible as possible. So, to keep costs low, we produce Baterinho in small batches. This means however that we might need more time than you expected to finish and deliver your Baterinho. Usually we deliver within 3 to 4 weeks (depending on if and where you need your Baterinho to be shipped). In case we need some extra time, we will let you know and will keep you posted during the process.
